Writing The Broken Barrier has taken much more time than I had originally anticipated, but in the long run, it is for the best. I've learned some lessons along the way so far that I will share in a future post once I've finished my novel and publish it, but for the time being, the two biggest things that I have learned about writing a novel is that not only does it take a lot of time to do so, it also requires a lot of discipine.
One of the reasons that it has been taking so long for me to finish my novel is that I have revised the plot at least four times already. While the first two adjustments were frustrating, as it caused me to miss my original deadline of November 31st, the last two refinements, have made the story much more interesting.
The amount of plot changes has also led me to the decision to write a trilogy. The Broken Barrier will not be a single novel. It will come in three books. If all goes well, the whole series will be done by the end of next year, and I currently do not anticipate any more significant plot changes for the first book. Since there won't be any more significant changes to the plot, the first draft (if it could be called that after being rewritten several times already...) will be done in early January, and if everything goes well after the first draft and the meticulous editing process, I hope to publish the first book by the end of January.
I will also strive to update my blog at a more frequent rate. I've also created a twitter account (https://twitter.com/zkbooks). Thanks for checking in, and come back within a few days to see another update!
