After seven days of working on my novel called The Broken Barrier, I have written a total of 10,020 words. My writing goal is 50,000 words by the end of November since its National Novel Writing Month, and I am technically behind schedule! It does not worry me, however, since two things have given me encouragement.
First, I have never written 10,000 words in a writing project before. I've tried to write novels in the past, but it was rare for me to ever get past 5,000 words. Sometimes I ran out of inspiration, other times motivations for writing dwindled and disappeared. Not this time! I feel like I can write 40,000 more words (maybe)!
Second, I've never sat down and and try to contribute to one writing project seven days in a row. There is nothing wrong with taking a break, but I am participating in a writing marathon of sorts, so any break will set me back.
I realize that I sound like I'm bragging even with a long ways to go yet, but if you're reading this post and following my progress as a writer, and if you yourself would like to write a novel someday, something as simple as 10,000 words is a great accomplishment.
Thanks for checking it, and come back soon for more updates!
