Earlier this week I decided to take a break from writing my novel. That meant decreasing my chances of finishing my novel by the end of November, but I needed the mental rest from creative writing. Prior to the break, I made significant changes to the plot of the story. It needed more substance, and I believe I added more interesting details to the story. As a result, my writing has been setback, and I doubt I will finish The Broken Barrier by the end of November.
It is for the best, however, as it means that my novel will be better than just pushing through the original plot and writing a story that really needs more depth. I can still get most of the novel done by November 30th, but I doubt the first draft will be finished until sometime in early December.
This is my first real attempt at writing a novel, and though I wish I could finish it in time for National Novel Writing Month, I would much rather write a good novel and than an "okay" novel. I will be able to keep most of what I have written thus-far, so I won't need to do much re-writing, if any, until I finish my first draft.
Thanks for checking in, and please come back soon for another update!
